Emily Carr 2004 Wall Calendar
Emily Carr painted those things that can be seen only in the heart of wilderness, displaying the fierce vigor of the Pacific Northwest itself. Carr (1871–1945) abandoned a comfortable life in her teens when her parents died, leaving Victoria to study art in San Francisco and Europe. Later, based again in her hometown, she sojourned, often alone, in the northern rainforests, painting and learning from the indigenous people of the Northwest Coast. The British Columbia forest and the vanishing First Nations culture formed the two great themes in her landscapes and depictions of native culture. This English/French bilingual calendar lists international holidays as well as moon phases.
