 Elizabeth Catlett 2004 Wall Calendar
Elizabeth Catlett 2004 Wall Calendar
Grant Wood taught Elizabeth Catlett (b. 1915) to depict "what you know best." Catlett took his lessons to heart: she went on to excel in painting, printmaking, and sculpture (her primary medium). The granddaughter of North Carolina slaves, Catlett views art as a catalyst for social change; indeed, her works rarely fail to inspire, enlighten, or motivate. She portrays the struggles of the poor and the oppressed—particularly those of women, who often bear the brunt of the burdens inflicted by poverty and injustice—with an emphasis on their dignity and strength. Her are twelve of her finest works. The calendar lists international holidays as well as moon phases.
